McDonald's Toffee Latte

This is not a coffee. Don't get excited. This product has no idea of what a coffee is, and those ordering it don't care about or understand or want a coffee. They want a warm, sweet, milky drink. And that's what they get. Judge it as a coffee and it's crap. I mean. I'll repeat. This is not a coffee, so it's like judging a meat pie on how good a sports car it is. There's is no point of reference. So. Not a coffee. But a fun drink.

I enjoyed it for what it was. But I wish McDonald's in the UK was like McDonald's in Europe, where you can get a beer instead of this juvenile pap.

Jacqmotte Intense

Old fashioned Dutch coffee brought back from Brussels by Chrissie. This is a robust but not aggressive coffee. At first I made it with three scoops, and this felt a little crude, so I softened it with milk. I reduced to 2 and 1/2 scoops, and started to appreciate the robust, old fashioned nature of the coffee. It's pretty straightforward  - a burnt roast with some awareness of dark chocolate, though mostly it is toast burnt to carbon that dominates.

There's little character or depth here, just a dark but drinkable everyday coffee. Off it to guests who like espresso.
